Meet Jeff.
Jeff began practicing law in 2009 and has been a litigator for his entire career. He has served as a prosecutor, charging and resolving hundreds of criminal cases and trying dozens of jury trials, and as a civil litigation attorney, successfully resolving dozens of disputes for clients ranging anywhere from small claims in the thousands of dollars up through claims in excess of one billion dollars.
As a civil litigator, Jeff assists clients in resolving disputes both inside and outside of the courtroom. He has represented a broad assortment of businesses and individuals in a variety of civil disputes, such as probate disputes, trust litigation, commercial litigation, business partner disputes, breach of contract cases, real property disputes, and trademark and copyright infringement claims to name a few. Since founding Hinman Law, Jeff's practice has focused on trust and estate litigation and elder law disputes.

Education and Background.
Jeff received his Bachelor of Science degree in political science at Oregon State University. He then worked in fundraising at New York University School of Law for three years before returning home to Oregon to pursue his juris doctorate at the University of Oregon School of Law. While at the University of Oregon, Jeff was Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Environmental Law and Litigation. After graduating from law school, he served as a judicial clerk for the Honorable Gregory G. Foote and the Honorable Suzanne B. Chanti at the Lane County Circuit Court. Jeff then served as an assistant district attorney for Lane County for three years and spent five years as a litigation attorney in one of Bend's largest law firms before founding Hinman Law, P.C. in 2017.
Professional and Community Associations.
Jeff is an alumnus of Leadership Bend, the Bend Chamber of Commerce's community leadership development program. Jeff is a supporter of animal welfare in Central Oregon and served as a board member for the Bend Spay and Neuter Project. Jeff is also active in the local business community and volunteered as a member of the Bend Chamber of Commerce’s Business Success Council. Jeff is a member of the Oregon State Bar, OSB’s Litigation, Business Litigation, Elder Law, Estate Planning & Admin Law, and Small and Solo Firm Sections, and the Deschutes County Bar Association. He is admitted to practice in Oregon state courts; the U.S. District Court, District of Oregon; and the U.S. Bankruptcy Court, District of Oregon.
Personal Interests.
Jeff is a DIY enthusiast and can be found most weekends working on one project or another with his wife, Kathleen, and daughter, Eleni, at their home in Bend. When he’s not working on home improvements, he enjoys taking part in all of the wonderful outdoor activities that Central Oregon has to offer, including hiking, cycling, fishing, camping, cross country skiing, snowshoeing, or just walking around Bend with his family. Jeff and Kathleen also enjoy traveling, tasting different cuisines, and sampling craft beer and wine.
